GEM STATE LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE (GSL)

GSL is a statewide leadership experience designed for all members. With sessions tailored for both underclassmen and upperclassmen, students take part in workshops, activities, and networking opportunities that focus on leadership, advocacy, and personal growth. Events are held at multiple locations across Idaho from January through March.

Two tracks, one incredible conference!

ENRICH is for freshmen and sophomores in high school.

This track focuses on person growth and self-improvement strategies in order to better individuals and society.

PURSUE meets the needs of high school juniors and seniors.

This track focuses on utilizing personal skills to be an effective team member and a leader in the real world.

  • GSL is held each year from January through March in three locations across Idaho:

    • Boise (two-day format, includes housing)

    • East Idaho (Fort Hall) (one-day format)

    • North Idaho (Moscow) (one-day format)

    Exact dates are announced annually through the Idaho Ag Ed Listserv and are also available on the Calendar.

    • Process: Advisors complete chapter registration through the official online form, selecting the appropriate track (Enrich or Pursue).

    • Cost: $45 per participant (non-refundable).

    • Tours & Add-Ons: Career Success Tours (for younger members) and the Cenarrusa Legislative Luncheon (for juniors, seniors, and advisors at the Boise event) require separate registrations.

    • Payment: Invoices are provided after registration; payment must be received prior to participation.

    • Housing (Boise only): Chapters arrange housing directly with the Riverside Hotel through the designated group coordinator. Do not call the hotel directly.

    • Roster Requirement: All participants must be listed on the chapter’s official roster submitted to the state office to attend.

    Registration opens in early January, with deadlines shared through the Idaho Ag Ed Listserv and the Calendar.

    • Register students by the posted deadline and ensure track selection (Enrich or Pursue).

    • Submit student housing lists for Boise attendees to the designated hotel coordinator.

    • Supervise students throughout the event, ensuring they meet dress and behavior expectations.

    • Coordinate chapter participation in optional tours or the Cenarrusa Legislative Luncheon if applicable.

  • Dress Code:

    • Boise (two-day): Day 1 in Official Dress; Day 2 in business casual/nice school casual.

    • East Idaho: Official Dress required.

    • North Idaho: Conference t-shirt and nice jeans/pants.

    Meals:

    • Boise registration includes Monday dinner.

    • Other locations include lunch in the registration fee.

    • Career Success Tours and Cenarrusa Luncheon include meals but require separate registration.

    Schedule Format:

    • Boise: Two days with workshops, Capitol experiences, sessions, and social activities.

    • East: One full day of sessions, typically ending by 4:00 PM.

    • North: One full day of sessions, typically ending by 4:00 PM.

  • Who can attend GSL?
    All Idaho FFA members are eligible. Enrich Track is for freshmen and sophomores; Pursue Track is for juniors and seniors.

    Do students need to be on the chapter roster?
    Yes; all attendees must be officially rostered at the state level.

    Is housing included?
    Housing is only included for the Boise conference and must be arranged directly through the Riverside Hotel group coordinator.

    Are there optional events?
    Yes; Career Success Tours and the Cenarrusa Legislative Luncheon are optional add-ons at Boise but require separate registration.

    What attire is required?
    Dress codes vary by location but include Official Dress on at least one day of every event.
