What is FFA?

FFA member wins engineering challenge.

FFA is a youth leadership organization for students studying agriculture, food and natural resources. Student involvement includes opportunities for premier leadership, personal growth and career success with agriculture and natural resources as the vehicle. The letters “FFA” stand for Future Farmers of America and are a part of an important heritage that will never change! As America has grown and changed, FFA has expanded to include those who want to be production agriculturists along with members who aspire to be teachers, business owners, scientists, doctors, and more.

School based agricultural education includes classroom/laboratory, SAE, and FFA.

The Agricultural Education Mission

Agricultural education prepares students for successful careers and a lifetime of informed choices in the global agriculture, food, fiber and natural resources systems.

Start an agricultural education program in your community.

Through agricultural education, students are provided opportunities for leadership development, personal growth and career success. Agricultural education instruction is delivered through three major components:

  • Classroom/Laboratory instruction (contextual learning)

  • Supervised Agricultural Experience programs (work-based learning)

  • Student leadership organizations (National FFA Organization, National Young Farmer Educational Association and National Post-secondary Agricultural Student Organization).
